Our story

CASTRUM RELAIS is a touristic structure, characteristic for the region Veneto at the North of Italy, arranged in a Villa from the XVIII-th century – HOUSE FRACCAROLI, with a remarkable story and history, situated at the top of a hill that protrudes the entire wine area Valpolicella.
Once inside the property, from each point of the panoramic terrace, one might admire with a single sight the multicolor wine yards of Valpolicella, the river Adige that surrounds the secret Verona, but also the inspiring heights of Lessina.
House Fraccaroli – location Castrum relais–is situated in a medieval, picturesque market place that disposes of an external, romantic terrace, unique in this typical italian “borgo”. The property expands on approximate 10.000 sqm, whereas an olive plantation and an own wine cellar with the wine production completes the architecture and proposals of the location.
House Fraccaroli – location Castrum Relais–is situated in the immediate vicinity of a military, medieval castle, strategical placed at the top of the hill, wherefrom one might remark the entire areas. Originally named …, it was fully destroyed inyear 1405 and later on it has gotten the name ,”CastrumRuptus“. Therefrom comes obviously the denomination of the settlement developed in the area and kept also nowadays: Castelrotto.

House ''Fraccaroli''

House Fraccaroli was built at the end of the XVIII-th century, whereby the first information regarding the construction is situated around year 1970. Family Fraccaroli and its successors were owners of this property since its origins and till nowadays, whereas this property wasn´t ever sold, but was passed in the patrimony of more generations, only by successive inheritance. The present owner Giampiero Borghetti remembers his childhood in this building, where his grandmother Argene Fraccaroli lead his first steps.
In year 1805 was born in house Fraccaroli from Castelrotto( YR ), Via Castello, INNOCENZO FRACCAROLI, one of the famous sculptors of the XIX.th century, considered by some art critics as ”Canova di Verona”. He made lots of valuable works of art, exposed in the famous museums in Italy and Europe, with a deep inspiration from the style of the great masterAntonio Canova. In honor of this great artist and of the location Castrumrelais, the successor of the family Fraccaroli -Giampiero Borghetti– dedicated a line of the attentive prepared and selected wines in the wine cellar inside the property. The series CASTRUM, proposes more wine sorts, whereas each of them praises a personality chosen by INNOCENZO FRACCAROLI mainly inspired from the Greek mythology.
